ISHPEMING - The Westwood High School girls tennis team improved to 8-2-2 after a 6-2 vitory over Munising on Friday.
Westwood won every match in doubles, while only losing two in singles.
Kara Harrington and Alexis Forchini paired up to win their doubles match against Munising's Sheena Sowa and Megan McLaren, 6-1, 6-2. Also getting a win in doubles were Westwood's Rachel Anderson and Shana Caliguri, who beat Alex Paquette and Gabi Koenig, 6-2, 6-1.
The Pats' Gabby Hebert and Lacey Pietro also earned a win, defeating Sadie Cornish and Izzy Nebel, 6-4, 6-1. The final WHS doubles winners were Taryn Moyle and Katie Rankinen, who overtook Adele Gendron and Carla Nottmeier, 6-3, 7-5.
In singles, Westwood's Sarah Massie took a victory over Jenna Hach of Munising, while Courtney Beauchamp also picked up a win, 4-6, 7-6, 6-1 over the Mustang's Katie Immel. The two winners for Munising were Eve Gendron and Emily DesJardins, who defeated Caitlin Hewitt (7-6, 6-4) and Megan Chapman (7-6, 6-3), respectively.
