Northern Michigan volleyball team swept at Minnesota-Duluth for first loss of 2012

DULUTH, Minn. - After going undefeated in four games at Ferris State over the weekend to start the season, the Northern Michigan University volleyball team fell on the road Tuesday via a 25-21, 25-14, 25-21 sweep by No. 6 Minnesota-Duluth.

The GLIAC North Division Player of the Week, junior setter Kellisha Harley, totaled 25 assists and seven digs.

Junior Kalli Herron and freshman Lisa Studnicka led the Wildcats' attack with seven kills each. Junior Sarah Hamilton and senior Andrea Ring each had six kills.

Senior Kalin Zimmerman and freshman libero Alex Berger led the Wildcats (4-1) in digs with nine each. Studnicka joined Harley with seven digs. Hamilton led in blocks with three and Zimmerman posted a team-high two aces.

NMU will play four games in the Missouri S&T Middle of Everywhere Classic this weekend against Emporia State and the hosts on Friday, followed by Southern Indiana and Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday.
