Green sweeps Gold in NMU volleyball scrimmage

MARQUETTE - The Green swept the Gold 25-23, 25-16, 25-13, during the Northern Michigan University volleyball team scrimmage on Tuesday night at Vandament Arena.

Freshman Lisa Studnicka, playing for the Green team, led all hitter with nine kills. The Green, which featured the Wildcats' potential starting rotation, also picked up eight kills from junior Kalli Herron and seven each from senior Andrea Ring and junior Sarah Hamilton. Junior Lina Lopes had six kills and 10 digs.

Junior Kellisha Harley, a junior college transfer, had 31 assists for the Green and libero Alex Berger had a team-high 15 digs.

Junior Katie Dzedzie led the Gold with four kills while senior Bailey Franklin had three.

Northern opens the regular season this weekend at a tournament in Big Rapids.
