MARQUETTE - The Mining Journal is welcoming a new leader into the fold, with the addition of Lawrence Doyle as the Journal's new advertising director.
"I am very excited about Larry Doyle joining our team as advertising director," said Mining Journal Publisher Jim Reevs. "Larry has a great deal of national marketing and newspaper experience, which will prove to be a great asset for our advertising customers."
Doyle, who comes to the Journal from Detroit, is an accomplished ad man, with years of experience in advertising sales. Specializing in automotive sales, Doyle has made his mark on several advertising companies and newspapers over the last few decades.
Most recently, Doyle was the senior director of advertising sales for Detroit Media Partnership, a firm that manages print and online operations of the Detroit Free Press and Detroit News, including all advertising and marketing operations. While there, Doyle increased revenue in the automotive, retail, financial, health care and other categories.
Prior to that, Doyle was the automotive director for Detroit Media Partnership, where he led the efforts of all automotive account personnel.
Doyle has earned several awards for his work in the advertising industry, and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Eastern Michigan University, with additional schooling at the University of Michigan Business School.
"Coming to this beautiful area for years, my wife and I purchased a home here three years ago and each time we visited, it became increasingly difficult to leave," Doyle said. "We finally made the decision to relocate full time and fortunately, this tremendous opportunity at The Mining Journal presented itself.
"It's wonderful when you can combine a career you're passionate about with the location you love," he said. "I'm looking forward to being a part of this vibrant community."
Doyle has also worked as the automotive marketing director for Newspaper National Network, out of New York. N.Y., the corporate director of automotive sales for Knight Ridder and gained advertising agency experience as vice president and director of client service at McCann Erickson and as an account director for the Leo Burnett Co.
