Mason, Higgins win top flights in Marquette Junior Golf Championship

MARQUETTE - The Marquette Junior Golf Association held its annual championship tournament at Gentz's Homestead Golf Course on Thursday with the top two qualifiers from each flight competing in the match play event.

Connor Mason of Ishpeming beat out Luke Pap of Marquette in the boys white division championship flight, and Sydney Higgins of Marquette topped Ellie Hicks, also of Marquette, in the girls red division championship.

In the boys red division championship, Jordan Jurmu of Marquette sunk a long putt in a playoff hole to beat Jordon Mason of Negaunee.

A skills competition was held for other golfers and included a putting, chipping, and longest drive competition.
