Art lovers weekend in Marquette area at hand

July 27, 2012
The Mining Journal

This is a weekend art lovers await with great anticipation. That's because the 54th annual Art on the Rocks and the 19th annual OutBack Art Fair will be taking place Saturday and Sunday.

Art on the Rocks will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette.

Some amazing artists will be featured with all 180 booths filled with incredible works.

Art on the Rocks is an event sponsored by LSSA Inc., a nonprofit, volunteer organization whose mission is to promote and encourage the development of visual arts and artists in the Marquette County area through programs and services directed toward appreciation and participation in the visual arts.

For more information, visit www.artontherocks.org.

Picnic Rocks is the setting for the OutBack Art Fair which will also take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Another 100-plus booths of excellent original art will be featured at OutBack.

For more information, visit www.outbackartfair.com

To help with the traffic flow, MarqTran buses will be available to transport art lovers to both fairs all day Saturday. Pick up will be near the Marquette Commons with drop off at the art fairs, with the buses doing an hourly route from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

We know people who have been to Art on the Rocks and OutBack in the past will return again to see the magnificent work of some of the most talented folks around.

We hope people who haven't taken a trip to the fairs in the past get out in the sunshiny weather to see how truly amazing - and varied - art can be.
