NEGAUNEE - Buck's Party Store defeated Iracore, 18-3, in a battle of undefeated last week in Class A of the Iron Range Women's Softball League.
Buck's, alone in first place, was led by Debbie Zummak going 3 for 3 with two triples and Nikki Christenson 2 for 3 with two homers. Amy Shultz was 2 for 2 for Iracore, while teammates Meagan Petros hit a bases-loaded triple.
PC Medic edged Jasper Ridge Brewery 1, 12-9, as the winners' Jennie Villeneuve was 4 for 4 and Terri Todd hit a homer, and Jasper Ridge's Taylor Watters and LeAnn Saarela each went 3 for 3.
Congress bludgeoned Teepee Bar, 23-1, as the winners' Allbie Salisbury was 4 for 4 with two homers and 6 RBIs. Teammates Ann Wilder, Steph Robar and Kerry White each went 3 for 4. Teepee's Trudy Duquette homered.
Cliffs Natural Resources downed Paradise Bar, 8-1, as Cassie Sandberg and Nikki Sundberg both went 2 for 3 with a double for Cliffs. PB's Rachel Hytinen had a double.
Crossfit 906 held off Hickey's, 12-8, as the winners' Lizzy VanBuren was 3 for 3 with a homer, Kim Koski 2 for 3 with two homers and Liz Steve and Tammy Benda had two hits apiece. Hickey's Nicki Sundberg, who homered, and Julie Miron both were 2 for 3, while Nancy Spencer was 2 for 2.
In Class B, Tino's 2 moved into first place alone with an 18-3 win over Jack's Teepee as previously undefeated Sister's lost to U.P. Off Road & Maintenance, 21-8. Jessica Stanley was 5 for 5 with a triple and Sam Zamesnik 4 for 5 with a double for UPORM.
U.P. Rehab Services upended Signs Unlimited, 17-9, as Rehab's Beth Rae was 5 for 5 and Signs' Liz Lenten was 3 for 3.
Dave's Collision held off Willey's Tire Shop, 9-5, as the winners' Jaime Roose and Mel Bess each went 2 for 3 with a homer. Willey's Becky Lee was 3 for 3 while Jamie Beaudin was cited for her play at shortstop.
VFW dropped Jasper Ridge Brewery 2, 13-4, as VFW's Brandee Korpi and Jess Ayotte both went 3 for 3. Korpi had 4 RBIs and Ayotte 2 RBIs. Jamie Pennell was 2 for 3 for JRB 2.
Company B Graphics beat Pasquali's, 13-2, as CBG's Joanna Small and Tayler Gray each went 4 for 4 with a double, Michelle Gray 3 for 4 with three doubles and Ashley Asgaard hit a homer. Pasquali's Andria Parkinson was 3 for 3.
In Class C, the Wooden Nickel remained in first place by holding off U.P. Fabricating, 8-5. The winners' Lisa Plis had two doubles and Janet Ely was 2 for 2.
Rookies 1 nipped Palomaki Family Chiropractic, 6-4, as Rookies' Charissa Johnson doubled and Palomaki's Kathy Gischia and Pat Zhulkie both went 2 for 4.
Eastwood dropped Jean Kay's, 13-3, as the winners' Connie Schultz was 3 for 3 and Denise Kaukola 2 for 2. JK's Jaclyn Davey homered.
Country Lanes doubled up Chapper's Pub, 8-4, as Country's Jen Tonge and Rachel Scott along with Chapper's Allissa Collins each doubled.
Negaunee Eagles held on for an 18-16 victory over Martin Sports Apparel as Sue Bazinette got the pitching win after her teammates scored eight runs in the final inning. Kerrie Myers homered for Martin.
