MARQUETTE - The North defeated the South, 9-8, in the inaugural Minor Division all-star game held by the Marquette Little League on Saturday.
With each of the league's five teams nominating four players, the 20 players were split into the two squads for this intraleague game.
In regular-season games held last week, Cooper Office Equipment won twice, defeating Classic Auto Collision 7-5 and MC Sports 5-1.
Cooper's Jon Jason and Jake Allard-Saucey combined on the mound in both wins as teammates John Thomson and Aaron Grezlak each had two RBIs in the win over Classic.
For Classic, Andrew Fedrizzi, Garette Frayer and Drew Lindberg had hits, while for MC, Mason Brady tripled and Eric Johnson and Desmond Mullen worked on the rubber.
MC Sports rang up a 10-2 win over Beauchamp Plumbing and Heating as Trent Smith had a double and two singles and Mullen, Smith and Marius Grazulius worked together for the pitching win. In addition, Grazulius and teammates Austin Ridl, Ricki Touchinski and Carsen Hayes each had hits.
For Beauchamp, Tyler Delmont had two hits and Matt Anderson scored twice.
Subway edged Beauchamp, 7-6, as Evan Gerry notched the game-winning RBI in the top of the seventh inning and closed out the victory on the mound by getting three straight outs in the bottom of the inning.
Teammate Beau Belkowski had two singles, Anthony Gerry a triple and Natalie Bordson, Jakob Peterson, Jacob Gorton and Dustin Lohfink each had singles.
For Beauchamp, Noah Beauchamp had a bases-loaded triple and Chase Seger scored twice.
