PUEBLO, Colo. Senior Bailey Franklin wrapped up the 2012 season on Saturday for the Northern Michigan University outdoor track and field team by becoming an All-American athlete for the third time in her career.
She turned in a fifth-place finish in the high jump at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships from Colorado State University in Pueblo, Colo.
Franklin cleared the bar at 5 feet, 9.25 inches to break her Wildcat record.
She finished in a deadlock with Nikki McNorton (third) of Tarleton State and Jennifer Foster (fourth) of Ashland (Ohio).
But the two competitors cleared heights with fewer attempts than Franklin.
Franklin was an indoor triple jump All-American in 2010-11.
Northern scored 11 team points and was in eighth place after the high jump in the NCAA Championship competition.
All three Wildcats who participated in the NCAA Championship meet are coming home as All-Americans.
Sophomore Jamie Roberts of Iron Mountain (pole vault) and redshirt freshman Sherice Hewett (triple jump) are the others after their performances on Friday.
Franklin, Hewett and Roberts became All-Americans in the same events during the indoor season.
