IRON MOUNTAIN - Kevin Borseth missed living and working in Green Bay along with visiting the U.P., he recently told his hometown newspaper.

Borseth, a Bessemer native, left his head coaching position with University of Michigan women's basketball to return to Wisconsin-Green Bay.

"My folks are both 86 years old and living in Bergland," Borseth told Pat Krause of The Daily Globe through the Iron Mountain Daily News. "It was hard for us to get back home (10-hour trip). The U.P. is our home. We love the U.P.

"We still follow everything that goes on back there. It was just too hard for us being that far way from family."

Borseth coached at UW-Green Bay from 1998 to 2007 (seven NCAA trips) before going to Ann Arbor for five years.

Borseth's commitment to Big Ten basketball was "24-7."

"For me, I didn't have anything," Borseth said. "Everything for me was hunting and fishing, which I really haven't done for five years."
