HILLMAN - Marquette Senior High School won both of its games against northern Lower Peninsula schools Saturday to capture the championship of the Hillman Tournament.
The Redmen opened with a 13-4 victory over the host Tigers as Josh Beaudry pitched the five-hit victory, striking out seven and walking four.
Teammate Brendan Higbie had two hits and Mike House a double as each collected two RBIs, while Nathan LaMora also doubled and Gabe Apple had two singles.
Marquette Senior High School won the Hillman Tournament on April 28 by defeating Rogers City 5-2 in the championship game after earlier beating the host team 13-4. In the title tilt, Marquette beat Rogers City 5-2 as Brett Beauchamp went the distance on the mound, scattering seven hits while notching two strikeouts and walking none. Beaudry, Apple and Collin Schwemin each had two hits, while House and Jake Olson were credited with outstanding defensive plays in the final inning to preserve the victory.
MSHS players named to the all-tournament team were Beaudry, Beauchamp, Schwemin and Apple.
