Direct mail event set for Wednesday

MARQUETTE - The U.S. Postal Service is offering local businesses an introductory look at a new kind of direct mailing service.

Every Door Direct Mail has become a new buzzword within the USPS. The new venture is a form of simplified addressing used by the Postal Service for years. It allowed business mailers to use mail delivery route information, instead of names and exact addresses, to reach target customer groups in urban areas. It has long been an accepted addressing option on rural routes and for government mailings.

With EDDM, businesses can now send advertising mail without acquiring an address list or printing addresses on each mailpiece. Instead, letter carriers deliver EDDM along with the day's mail to every address on routes customers want to reach.

To give business customers a firsthand look at how EDDM works, the Marquette Post Office is planning an EDDM event Wednesday where more information about this program will be offered. The session will be held at the Marquette Post Office.
