The Mining Journal

MARQUETTE - The Sierra Club will sponsor a ski outing at Valley Spur Saturday, Jan. 21. Meet at 10 a.m. at the warming hut at the Valley Spur ski trails in the Hiawatha National Forest. Participants will ski for two to three hours, then meet at the warming hut for a potluck lunch. Participants attending the lunch should bring a dish to share.

Friends of Valley Spur will offer homemade soup and bread as a lunch option.

The Valley Spur trails are located along M-94, 6 miles southwest of Munising, or about 6 miles from Chatham if coming from Marquette. Trails range from easy to challenging, and trails selected will be based on skiers who attend. There is a $10 trail fee.

For more information or to RSVP, call John Rebers at 250-0442 or email john.rebers@michigan.sierraclub.org.
