MARQUETTE - The Marquette Board of Light and Power is sponsoring its 21st annual poster contest in honor of Energy Awareness month.
The theme for this year's contest is "Powering Our Future." Students in fourth and fifth grades are encouraged to create a poster that illustrates what they think their future homes will be like, how people will communicate with one another, what kinds of devices and appliances will be used, and what space travel may be like.
The contest is open to students who reside in the BLP's service territory and have not previously won at any level in the contest. Home schooled students are also eligible. Posters will be judged on a variety of criteria including creativity, composition, neatness, originality and expression of theme.
Free poster paper is available at the BLP administrative office at 2200 Wright St. A white 18x24-inch piece of paper may also be used. Posters may be done in any medium or combination of media and may include the application of other items such as glitter, electric cords, string, cloth, wire, foil, etc. Posters must be submitted at the administrative office by 4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13.
