GWINN - The North Country Trail Hikers Chapter of the North Country Trail Association will sponsor a summer social outing and cookout July 10 at Peter Nordeen Park in downtown Gwinn. Attendees will meet at the far pavilion nearest to the Escanaba River.
Lunch is scheduled for approximately 1 p.m. Bring a picnic lunch, or meat or other food to grill, a beverage, and, if desired, a dish to share. Picnic tables, charcoal and tools for grilling, drinking water, paper cups, and picnic plates, napkins and eating utensils will be provided.
This is a non-smoking event. Alcohol is permitted in accordance with state laws. Dogs are permitted if leashed.
Following the meal, there will be opportunities for canoeing or kayaking on nearby lakes or on the Escanaba River, and hikes at the Anderson Lake ski trails or other local paths.
