MARQUETTE - An accreditation team from the International Economic Development Corporation has approved a site visit for The Lake Superior Community Partnership.
The site visit is the second phase of a process which could lead to the LSCP becoming an Accredited Economic Development Organization. The site team visit is designed to assess the organization in action.
Scott Martinez, executive director of the Hutto Economic Development Corporation and Jerry Stewart, workforce development coordinator for Virginia Beach Economic Development will be the review team conducting the site visit Wednesday through Friday.
The AEDO program offers the opportunityfor the LSCP to show it is at the top of the field and gain recognition for professional excellence.
"When an organization receives AEDO accreditation, you become part of a network of distinguished leadership organizations in the field, a noteworthy achievement,"?said LSCP chief executive officer Amy Clickner. "EDO status enables you to network with peers in the industry in ways that are unparalleled.
If LSCP earns this status, our organization will join less than 30 elite economic development entities nationally - including only one other organization in Michigan - Clickner said. Accredited Economic Development Organizations include state and local government economic development departments and local and regional public-private partnerships that have earned the AEDO designation.
"These are the best of the best, models of achievement in the economic development field," Clickner said.
