ISHPEMING - It has been two months since the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Marquette County moved its headquarters.
So far, so good.
"We moved officially Jan. 11," said Amy Mattson, program director. "The reason we moved is the county is reorganizing its annex building and they are not sure how things are going to work out. They are striving for efficiency and the best use of the building.
"They put it to us that they need the space," Mattson said. RSVP's office had been located in the annex building in Marquette.
"We looked at several different options that would be available to us," she said. "The building in Ishpeming had very easy access, which was a big plus."
Mattson said she understands why some RSVP volunteers in Marquette aren't thrilled with the change.
"We look at it as we're now more centrally located in the county," she said. "For many seniors, we are more accessible now."
The new RSVP office is in the same building as 96th District Court in Ishpeming. It's in the former Ishpeming Credit Union building, between the Stonehouse Windows and Ishpeming Fire Department buildings.
The new address is 215 W. Hematite Drive. The new phone number is 485-1782 The office is staffed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
