MARQUETTE - American Legion Post 44 and Auxiliary of Marquette will award four scholarships for the 71st sessions of the American Legion Boys and Girls State programs to be held June 19-25 at Northwood University in Midland and at Michigan State University in East Lansing, respectively.
The local post and unit will sponsor two boys and two girls. The program includes education in the legislative, administrative, political and judicial organization and processes, as well as a trip to the state capital in Lansing. Students must be in their junior year of high school in Marquette or Negaunee and planning to graduate from that school.
Candidates for these scholarships are selected with a strong emphasis on achievements and participation in their school and/or community. Applications must be submitted by March 22, with interviews to be conducted the following week.
