WHS’s Farley shoots a 40
CRYSTAL FALLS — The Westwood High School golf team traveled to the Crystal View Golf Course in Crystal Falls to take on the Forest Park Trojans Monday.
The Forest Park boys took a 14-stroke team win, beating the Patriots 164-178, while the Trojan girls were 32 strokes better than Westwood’s girls, winning 219-251.
Westwood’s Ryan Farley and Forest Park golfer Erik Peterson both finished the day with 40 strokes.
Ryan Ball (43), Robert Carlson (46) and Justin Farley (49) rounded out the top four for the Patriots.
Kristi West was the top golfer on the girls side of the meet, finishing her day with a 49 for the Trojans.
For the Patriots, Katrina Etelamaki was the top girls golfer, finishing with a 58. Taylor Julju (60), Emily Bartanen (63) and Mindy Harrington were behind Etelamaki for Westwood.
MSHS in quad
The Marquette Senior High School boys finished second and the girls fourth at the Kingsford Quad at Pine Grove Country Club in Iron Mountain Monday.
Gladstone won the boys competition with a score of 162, with MSHS next with 168. Iron Mountain and Kingsford tied with 170s.
Five boys tied for medalist honors at 40 including Redmen Ben Johnson and Matt Adams, with teammate Jon Nezich shooting a 41.
On the girls side, Kingsford won with a 223. Gladstone was second at 228 with Iron Mountain third at 229. MSHS shot a 239, with Sarah Simmons posting the second-best girls score at 51.
