POSITIVE PADDLING
MARQUETTE — Online voting has resulted in Marquette being named a “distinctive destination,” and the YMCA of Marquette County is hoping area residents show just as much support for the Y’s kayaking program. The Y is currently in the running for $50,000 from the Pepsi Refresh Project, which is giving away $1.3 million to projects across the country in categories like health, arts and culture, food and shelter, the planet, neighborhoods and education. Applicants can submit ideas for $5,000, $25,000, $50,000 and $250,000. The catch is the money is only awarded to the top 10 vote getters in each monetary division. Anyone can vote online, once a day. To vote there is a quick registration process, but if you are already a member of Facebook, you can vote by logging in through Facebook. To vote, go to www.refresheverything.com/ymcamarquettecounty and click “vote for this idea.
