What’s the big deal?
For years now I have been hearing and reading all about the sulfide mining topic. At the present time I understand that Kennecott is the company at issue, with others to follow. Well, I simply do not understand why the people of the Upper Peninsula should be so upset over such trivial matters. Okay, fine, sulfide mining pollutes the air and waters. Big deal! I don’t know about you but I have never caught a coaster brook trout, so I can’t say as I will miss them much.
All this complaining about allowing Kennecott to use the public’s state land is very petty also. I say let them use all the state and national forest they want! After all, we need to mine those metals for China, although I hope they don’t sell that stuff back to us for a profit or anything like that. I hear that China is a pretty trustworthy country.
Enough is enough!
I think it’s about time we all stood shoulder to shoulder and said, “Enough, already!”
It’s time our politicians started working for us instead of their own pockets.
