Land visits Marquette
MARQUETTE — Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land was in town today, announcing the availability of the state’s new enhanced driver’s license and state ID card at her department’s Marquette office. “We’re offering he enhanced driver’s license, which is your driver’s license plus a border crossing document,” Land said. “We think it’s a lot easier and simpler than getting a passport, which is more expensive and takes longer to get.” Land visited the Marquette County PLUS office on U.S. 41 this morning to discuss the new license and its wider availability. The cards are now available at 97 branch offices statewide. Initially, 16 offices offered the enhanced license as Land’s office gauged customer interest. More than 35,000 Michigan residents have applied for the cards since April. “The cost and convenience of the enhanced license have made it popular with the thousands of Michigan residents who travel to Canada for work or enjoyment,” Land said in a press release.
