Police: Driver uninjured after power pole crash

MARQUETTE — A vehicle struck struck a power pole on U.S. 41 West near Malton Road this morning. The driver of the vehicle was uninjured.

At 4:25 a.m., officers from the Negaunee City Police Department were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, officers found that a blue 2012 Chevrolet Impala had veered off the roadway and struck a power pole causing it to break and fall into the eastbound traffic lane of U.S. 41 West, according to a press release from the Negaunee City Police Department.

The driver of the vehicle, a 48-year-old Ishpeming woman, appeared to have had a medical episode prior to the crash. She appeared physically uninjured. She was wearing a seatbelt and the airbag deployed. She was taken to UPHS – Bell Hospital as a precaution to be evaluated.

Officers were assisted by the UPHS – Bell Hospital EMS, the Negaunee City Fire Department, the Negaunee City Electrical Department and Anttila’s towing.
