U-Haul catches fire, destroying contents

A 17-foot U-Haul truck caught fire shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of the Days Inn in Marquette Township. No injuries were reported, but the blaze caused traffic on U.S. 41 to be reduced to one lane as crews extinguished the flames. The truck was full of household contents belonging to a family that was in the process of moving from Iron River to Ohio, according to a press release from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office. Police said the storage section of the truck was fully engulfed in flames when emergency personnel arrived around 7:15 p.m., but the cause of fire remained unknown as of this morning.
